"Dysfunctional" is my senior year thesis, wherein I explored my father's journey to sobriety, as well as what defines addiction as we see it today.
Process
There was a very lengthy process in creating this project. I decided to create a booklet with a front and back cover, and incredibly dynamic spreads on the inside. Before the final creation, however, I did lots of sketching and writing to chronicle my thoughts.
I then went about beginning to document just about everything pertaining to my dad and his story. I took over 100+ photos for this project, and utilized some film photography from his youth as well. Finally, I had a lengthy interview with him, where I went through a list of questions that would help me to better understand his experience.
